About Me
By combining my analytical skills (as a former lawyer), with intuitive and empathic counselling skills I work with the heart and the head to achieve optimal outcomes for clients.
About Emily Morrow
Every counsellor brings a different approach to their work.
My counselling background is somewhat unique in that I practiced family law for 20 years working with individuals and families.
I realised the law could provide some solutions for people’s problems, but that there were many issues it could not address. I wanted to work with clients at a deeper level to achieve lasting benefits. This led me to get a PG Dip in counselling at Auckland University.
I combine a warm, caring, and accepting approach with a direct and practical perspective on what is at the heart of your counselling needs. If I have a special gift, it’s being able to sense those central issues and weave them into our work together. For example, what’s troubling you beneath the superficial dynamics of anger, frustration, and relationship problems? What’s most important in enhancing your quality of life? What needs to change and how, specifically, can that happen?
Qualifications:
- PG Dip Counselling (with Distinction), University of Auckland.
- B.A. (Psychology and Sociology, Hons).
- Juris Doctor (Doctorate in Law, Hons).
- Post-graduate certification, Bowen Center for the Study of the Family.
- MNZCCA member (provisional).
